Doha-based Qatar Executive has been recognised with an award for 'outstanding growth' since its foundation at the annual Gulf Aviation Networking Event, held at the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai.

The annual aviation achievement award celebrates players from commercial and business aviation as well as airports and aviation solution partners for their contributions to the region's aviation industry. The award was presented to Qatar Executive as a result of the company's major expansion across its service portfolio, which includes a substantial order for 30 Gulfstreams placed in May 2015. The first Gulfstream G650ER will join the company in the last quarter of this year and the total order will triple the size of its fleet.

Executive VP David Edwards, who also participated in a panel discussion on business aviation at the event, received the award on behalf of chief executive Akbar Al Baker.

Al Baker says: “Being recognised for our growth is a significant achievement and a proud moment for this division. Winning this award is a great honour and testament to the hard work which has been put into our corporate jet department, and we are looking forward to introducing our new Gulfstream G650ER into service as well as continuous service level enhancements for our customers.”

The company's managed fleet recently had three aircraft added to it, and in addition to this Qatar Executive received a 40-seat A319 in February, which is available for worldwide charter for larger groups. It has been designed for corporate and VIP travellers, and sports teams.

Construction works at its FBO in Doha are also advancing and are set to be completed by the end of this year.

The operator currently flies eight Bombardier aircraft including three Challenger 605s, four Global 5000s and a Global XRS with a two cabin configuration and capacity for up to 13 passengers.
