UK-based FBO and aviation services provider Weston Aviation has signed a long-term contract to open a business aviation centre and FBO at Cork International airport, Ireland. The facility at Cork is Weston's first venture outside of the UK as the company takes up residence at the executive hangar and office space at the airport.

Already operating at four UK hubs, Weston offers FBO and cargo handling as well as aircraft fuel and support services. The opening of the centre signals an intention to expand internationally and the facility will be open for business during September. Weston will offer its full range of services including long-term and ad hoc hangarage and concierge services.

Md Nick Weston says: “This is an exciting time for us as we are expanding our business outside of the UK for the first time. We chose Cork airport as our first international base for a number of reasons. The key factor was the number of global businesses based in the region as well as the growing local economy. We believe that there is real scope to significantly develop our client base in Ireland from Cork and to provide world-class executive handling facilities at the airport as well as hangarage for aircraft up to super-midsize. We are looking forward to welcoming our existing and new customers to our centre at Cork.”

He explains that he was drawn to Cork airport as its size and structure is similar to the company's other partner airports. Regarding staffing, Weston adds: “We will be looking to initially recruit a team locally. These positions will be in sales, ground handling and administration and over the next two years we plan to expand the Irish team.”

Established in 1995, Weston has FBOs at Newquay Cornwall airport, Durham Tees Valley airport, Humberside International airport and Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield.
