Gama Aviation has submitted a planning application to build a facility at Aberdeen International airport. The proposed facility covers more than 1,700 sqm and includes hangar space as well as extensive offices on two floors.

The project is scheduled for completion in 2016 and, if approved, will be Gama's third base in Scotland; it currently has two hangars in Glasgow and intends to use the latest development to provide support to the Scottish Ambulance Service and its own managed fleet as well as to other business jet operators with missions in the north of Scotland.

Ceo Marwan Khalek says: “Gama Aviation has operated in a leased facility in Aberdeen for some time as part of a long-term contract with NHS Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service. Our plans for this dedicated facility represent a logical yet important step in further strengthening our presence in Scotland to serve Aberdeen and the east coast.

“We are currently undertaking a strategic expansion of our operations into key geographical locations around the world, such as Aberdeen, to ensure that we are able to support our clients where they need additional operational and main-tenance support.”

The company operates from four bases across the UK, with its Farnborough headquarters supported by operations in Fairoaks, Oxford and Glasgow, plus additional aircraft bases around the UK. A second facility at Glasgow International airport is due for completion this summer.

In addition to management, Gama provides charter, line and base maintenance, engineering design, FBO services and ground management systems. Its recent reverse takeover with Hangar 8 has formed one of the largest business jet fleets in the world.
