London Biggin Hill airport's local authority The London Borough of Bromley has approved in principal its request to extend its operating hours. The airport put in a request to extend its hours from 0630 to 2300 Monday to Saturday and from 0800 to 2300 on Sundays and public holidays. It is currently operational from 0730 to 2100 Monday to Saturday and 0900 to 2100 Sundays and holidays.

The extended operating hours, along with initiatives such as the London Heli Shuttle, are intended to enable BHAL's customers to undertake productive business activities in London and the south east of the UK. It is also hoped that the extension will entice more aviation manufacturing, engineering and support activities.

“London Biggin Hill currently ranks third in the UK for business aviation movements, handling some 14,000 during 2014,” says business development director Robert Walters.

“With an expansion of our operating hours, no slot restrictions and the London Heli Shuttle experience we are enabling our customers to gain more control of their time, ensuring that the transit to and from London is as efficient as possible and providing access to a range of excellent business aviation support services including three FBOs, extensive hangarage, support and maintenance services.”
