Heron Aviation has moved its headquarters in southern Germany to a new site five kilometres away, after its landlord announced that the previous location would be torn down to make way for a supermarket.

The new office is located approximately 30 minutes from Zurich airport and 45 minutes from Basel. It has over 200 sqm of available space, with room to expand further.

“This new location offers us many opportunities,” says flight dispatcher Pierre Knoblauch. “We had been renting the previous space; it was not our own office. The owner of the land decided to tear it down, so we were left with no choice but to move.”

Knoblauch reveals that Heron is in talks to add several aircraft before the close of 2014: “I can't disclose any details at this stage, but what I can guarantee is that we will see some more expansion this year.

“2014 has been promising so far and things have definitely improved. Flight hours are increasing, both in the current and past month. We definitely look forward to welcoming more aircraft to our fleet.”

Staffing levels have remained stable and there are no plans to recruit at present. As to the new build, Knoblauch says the advantages are numerous: “It is exceptionally modern and spacious. If you compare it to the other building – which was built 20 or 30 years ago – it is clear that the offices we have now are far more economical. We have a pleasant view, which is a bonus as we uphold our professional relations with clients.”
