From June 1, 2005, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) will levy fees for its certification activities. The fees will be paid by applicants for certificates and approvals issued, as well as for publications, training, the handling of appeals and other services.
According to Jacques Barrot, vp of EASA, the fees should be set out in a “transparent, fair and uniform manner.” The charges, which will be payable in Euro, will be communicated to the payee before the agency provides its services.
The amount of the fees will depend on the workload involved and complexity of tasks. The ‘Fees and Charges’ regulation (EC No 488/2005) will be reviewed and, if necessary, revised annually.
