Midwest brings FBO tally to six
UK-based FBO handler Midwest Executive Aviation has agreed terms with both Birmingham International Airport and Dundee Airport to provide aircraft handling and FBO facilities. UK-based FBO handler Midwest Executive Aviation has agreed terms with both Birmingham International Airport and Dundee Airport to provide aircraft handling and

FBO facilities.

The company already had a presence at Birmingham International Airport, through its joint venture with British Airways since October last year, but now has its own facilities in the Business Aviation Centre in the Elmdon Building.

“We started the joint venture with British Airways in Terminal Two at Birmingham a year ago, as we felt there was no-one at the airport offering the level of service that these large aircraft charters expected; offering the use of dedicated check-in facilities and executive lounges,” said Midwest regional manager Mike Greenway, who will manage the

new facility.

“Extending our handling services to the Business Aviation Centre within our own new facility will enable us to also offer our services to the private and business aircraft operators.”

The station will open on April 18 and the company states that it has already received positive reaction from many jet operators.

Bringing its tally to six, Midwest has opened an FBO at Dundee Airport in Scotland.

“We have been in talks with Dundee Airport management for a while and we expedited the opening of our facility to April 4, as the airport is expecting an increase in movements due to the presence of the G8 summit and Open Golf at St Andrews later this summer,” commented md Craig Middleton.

Dundee Airport manager. David Johnston said that he saw the addition of Midwest Executive’s FBO services as a valuable asset for the airport. “We have always seen strong levels of business traffic at Dundee and we need to provide the best possible reception and handling for our clients as they are such an important part of our business.”

Middleton summarised the company’s ambitions: “Even before the inception of the company, it was our plan to build a good quality FBO chain here in the UK then, maybe, overseas. We have far exceeded any of our expectations and now, with the expansion of our airport services division, the sky is truly the limit.”
