Harry Stonecipher, president and ceo of Boeing, has resigned following an investigation surrounding a personal relationship with a female executive of the company.\rBoeing’s board of executives ordered the investigation after the board chairman, Lew Platt, received anonymous information about the consensual relationship. Even though the investigation concluded the relationship had no effect on the company’s business, the board determined that his actions were inconsistent with Boeing’s code of conduct.\r“The board concluded that the facts reflected poorly on Harry’s judgement and would impair his ability to lead the company.” said Platt. “The ceo must set the standard for unimpeachable professional and personal behaviour.”\rJames Bell, Boeing’s cfo since November 2003, will take over as president and ceo on an interim basis.
