Bell Helicopter has unveiled two versions of a new light twin helicopter for corporate and emergency medical service operations, dubbed the 429.\rAccording to the company, the 429 is the first of many Bell products that will be incorporating new technologies that have been developing over the last several years. The cabin volume is 70 per cent larger than the current light twin 427 and seats eight passengers plus crew. It also has improved patient access in EMS configuration with capacity for two patients and a flat floor for optimal patient access.\rAccording to Bell, the helicopter will be certified for category A capability and ditching and features ‘ergonomically friendly’ avionics.\rBell states that the development of the 429 came as the result of customer input and guidance, and that all of the 427i customers Bell signed in the last year have converted their orders to 429s. The first 429 is planned for delivery in early 2007.
