The TT62 Alekto, a twin-engine business aeroplane manufactured by High Performance Aircraft, took off on its maiden flight in February. Powered by two Centurion 4.0 310bhp diesel engines from Thielert Aircraft Engines, the aircraft started from Heringsdorf on the island of Usedom. Test pilot Gerard Guillaumaud flew the aircraft at a low altitude marking the start of the prototype flight tests.\rThe TT62 aircraft has two engines installed inside the fuselage behind the cockpit, which power two five-blade propellers. According to TAE, the engines make the TT62 a powerful cruising aircraft with very low consumption values.\rThe five-seat cabin is located in front of the wing to provide good visibility for pilots and passengers. HPA states that the cabin is expected to be relatively silent, as the main sources of noise – the liquid-cooled engines, exhaust systems, and propellers – are all located behind the rear bulkhead. Production of the first customer TT62 is scheduled for 2006.
