Norsk Helicopter has purchased two 19-seat Sikorsky S-92A helicopters, which are due to be delivered at the beginning of February.
The company, which also operates Super Pumas and an S-76C+, will begin operating the Bergen-based S-92As as offshore transport helicopters in the middle of February.
According to chief pilot Arne Gilberg, Norsk is currently bidding for a new offshore transport contract, which might call for further additions to the fleet before the end of the year.
“This depends on the contract we’re fighting for,” he commented. “We should know in the first half of the year whether we will be adding more aircraft. The S-92As may be used for a new contract too, depending on the requirements of the customer.”
The pilots completed their training for the helicopters in November, following simulator training, a technical course and flight training at FlightSafety in Florida.
