DaimlerChrysler Aviation operates an eight-seat Citation X which, due to its impressive range and speed, the company regards as an ideal addition to its extensive fleet.
The company’s pilots were trained at FlightSafety and sales director Jonas Kraft believes that the increasing security measures in the US have made the process of sending pilots to train there more time-consuming.
“It’s quite difficult at the moment due to the fact that when the pilots are sent over to America, their fingerprints must be taken and checked and sent over again for training purposes.”
DaimlerChrysler currently operates an Airbus ACJ, a Global Express, two Challenger 604s, three Learjet 60s, two Citation Xs, two CJ2s and a Falcon 2000.
“It’s the perfect aircraft between the Learjet 60 and the Challenger category for flights over four hours, where the speed comes into its own. With the Citation X we are not only concentrating on the German market, which is of course important to us, but we can also look to the London area, France
and Russia.
“From my position as a sales director, it is perfect because I can offer seven different aircraft types. From the maintenance and crew departments’ points of view, it’s a little bit difficult because for every aircraft type you have, you must have specified technicians and pilots, so it’s quite complex.”
