At this year’s NBAA convention in Las Vegas, Bombardier introduced the Learjet 40 XR, an enhanced version of its Learjet 40 light business jet. The company claims the aircraft, which is set to enter service in 2006, flies even further under hot and high conditions, delivers a faster time-to-climb performance and offers reduced flight times.
Powered by upgraded Honeywell TFE731-20-BR twin turbofan engines, which have been in service on the Learjet 45 XR since June the LR40 XR is expected to receive FAA approval in the fourth quarter of 2005. The company has said that current Learjet 40 operators will be able to upgrade to the Learjet 40 XR through engine and airframe service bulletins available in late 2005.
The company also announced that its special edition Learjet 60 midsize business jet will now be the production standard for new Bombardier Learjet 60 aircraft. The company revealed that all such aircraft purchased prior to December 21, 2004 will include a comprehensive maintenance, warranty and training package.
In a separate development, the company’s Learjet 45 family has been certified by EASA to fly into London City Airport. The approval applies to all Learjet 40, 45 and 45 XR aircraft registered in the EU.
