FlightSafety is adding a new feature to its flight simulators designed to train crews in runway excursion accident prevention. Called Runway Judgement Training, the programme also assists crews in developing procedures that address the risk of landing at smaller airports and less than ideal runways.
The RJT programme enables simulator instructors to create marginal operating conditions by controlling runway length, width and weather at a generic town airport. A specific city airport may also be created. Crews must decide if the proposed takeoff and landing procedures are safe.
RJT will be introduced to FlightSafety’s simulators within the next few months.
