Cessna has introduced class A Terrain Awareness and Warning System (TAWS) service bulletins for a range of Citation aircraft.
The service bulletins for Sandel class A and class B solutions will be available in October for the 525 CJ mark V and VIII, 550 Bravo mark VII and VIII, 560 Ultra mark VIII, Citation 550 mark VIII and the Citation 650 mark VII.
The TAWS service bulletins will provide flight crews with visual and aural alerts to accidental terrain approaches and, by incorporating altitude, airspeed, flight stage and crew response time, are intended to provide pilots with enhanced situational awareness.
The TAWS system has been designed to replace Ground Proximity Warning Systems (GPWS) and features Forward Looking Terrain Avoidance (FLTA) and Premature Descent Alerts (PDA).
