AgustaWestland launched a light twin helicopter at this year’s Farnborough airshow. Carrying the name of Agusta Grand, the company says it has been developed to meet the diversified market demand and provide better levels of cabin space and payload that until now, could only be met by larger, more expensive helicopters.
It is expected to be focused primarily at the vip and corporate market segment, although it will
also be used for SAR, EMS, offshore operations, law enforcement and coastal patrol.
Said a spokesman: “AgustaWestland is committed to provide the marketplace with a modern, comprehensive commercial product line, ranging from single-engine to heavy multi-engine helicopters.
“This new intermediate size helicopter with light twin economics fits as a natural addition to the product line, at the upper end of the light twin FAR/JAR 27 segment.”
The Grand has a maximum takeoff weight of 3,175 kilogrammes.
The spokesman added: “The combination of 815 shp new generation Pratt & Whitney PW207C turbo shaft engines with electronic control (FADEC) and an uprated transmission ensure outstanding performance, in both hovering and forward flight, including Full Class 1 operation.
“The resulting payload/range capability and the very high cruise speed make the Grand an unrivalled helicopter in its category.”
AgustaWestland says the Grand has a spacious, unobstructed long passenger cabin and a wide sliding cabin door on both sides, giving space and easy access. There is also a wide selection of interiors and equipment available.
