Martin Broadhurst, the ceo of the UK’s Marshall Aerospace, has been awarded an OBE medal by the UK government for his exceptional contribution to the aerospace industry over many years.
The 50-year-old joined Marshall of Cambridge (Engineering) as a management trainee in 1975 and was appointed assistant to the managing director in 1977. During 1982, he was responsible for the highly successful conversion of C-130 aircraft to enable them to receive fuel in flight.
This modification was crucial to the success of the Falklands war and was completed in just 21 days from the beginning of initial design work to the first aircraft being put into operational service.
Mr Michael Marshall, chairman and chief executive of Marshall of Cambridge (Holdings) Limited said: “We are all absolutely delighted and proud that Martin Broadhurst’s hard work, inspirational leader-
ship and commitment to the company as well as his considerable work in the local community have been recognised.
