Helicopter pilots’ individual type ratings can now be acquired from the non-profit air rescue organisation DRF (Deutsche Rettungsflugwacht).
DRF says it is the first air rescue organisation in Germany with a type rating training organisation (TRTO) approved by Luftfahrt-Bundesamt, the German Federal Office of Civil Aviation. On the basis of the new European aviation rules (JAR – FCL), DRF now offers its own pilots and pilots from other aviation company type rating courses to acquire type ratings.
So far, the DRF type rating instructors (TRI) have trained seven pilots in five training courses. Additional training is planned for the second half of the year. DRF offers type ratings on BO 105, BK 177, and EC 135 helicopters.
