Austrians add AS355 for emergency medical trips
Knaus Helicopters has taken delivery of a Eurocopter AS355 F2 to complement its extensive fleet of helicopters based in Austria. “We chose the 355 F2 because there is a lot of similarity to our AS 350 B3s in terms of maintenance and flight characteristics,” said Roy Knaus.

“The F2 has a low empty weight for a twin and thus good twin-and single-engine performance.”

The helicopter will be used for EMS and charter flights, operating

in Tyrol and Salzburg to a

maximum height of 12,000 ft. The company is not expecting much charter custom, however, unless passengers specifically ask for a twin-engine helicopter.

Knaus Helicopters also operates an MD 520N, two Bell 205s, two

AS 350 B3s, two SA 315B Lamas,

two AS 355Ns and two further

AS 355 F1/2s. It is currently looking into the possibilities of adding an

MD Explorer.
