Operators able to uplink flight plans to cockpit
Jeppesen and Arinc are collaborating to provide full, two-way communication services to their shared base of corporate aviation customers.  Under the newly formed relationship, users of Arinc Direct’s flight support services and Jeppesen’s JetPlan flight planning system can now uplink flight plans directly to the cockpit – both in-flight and on the ground.

Jeppesen and Arinc are collaborating to provide full, two-way communication services to their shared base of corporate aviation customers.  Under the newly formed relationship, users of Arinc Direct’s flight support services and Jeppesen’s JetPlan flight planning system can now uplink flight plans directly to

the cockpit – both in-flight and on

the ground.

Said a spokesman: “With the seamless, real-time uplink process, customers are relieved of the tedious task of inputting flight plans manually into the flight management computer (FMC). In addition, the risk of flight crews entering erroneous flight plan data is eliminated.  Because the system is a two-way communication link, the receipt status of the flight plan can be communicated back to Jeppesen.”

In the near future, airborne flight crews and Jeppesen’s international trip planning staff will be able to exchange a wide variety of communications, including text messages, aircraft position reports, on/off information and Notams.
