Goodrich has delivered its first high-performance rescue hoist to Sikorsky for qualification on the S-92 helicopter.
The hoist features ‘category one’ technology, a Goodrich innovation, which is designed to allow safer operation in unstable environments. The translating drum reportedly provides high levels of reliability and safety, coupled with a low overall life cycle cost.
The new hoist has achieved cable speeds of 350 feet per minute and can reverse directions and achieve the same speed in 1.6 seconds. It has been designed to exceed the electromagnetic interference performance requirements set by the UK’s Ministry of Defence. The same hoist is also flying on the EC 225, and future platforms include the Eurocopter NH-90 and the Boeing Bell V22.
Steve Loye, vp of hoist and winch for Goodrich, said: “This is a major milestone for us and further strengthens Goodrich’s position for our translating drum/category one technology.”
Goodrich Corporation’s hoist and winch team has two locations – Diamond Bar, California and St. Ouen l’Aumone, France – producing a complete line of external and internal rescue hoists and cargo winches.
