Cessna has sold 27 new Caravans, after introducing a special $75,000 discount incentive on available unsold aircraft late in the first quarter of this year. This worldwide venture only applies to select Caravan serial numbers and will be available until all qualifying aircraft are sold.

Vice president of worldwide propeller sales, John Doman said: “We decided to announce this programme to counteract some of the challenges we were facing in the uncertain economy. It has exceeded our expectations by stimulating our new order intake and we only have a handful of aircraft left that are available with this offer.”

Meanwhile, Cessna’s new factory installed Bendix/King KDR 510 and KMH 880 avionic packages are reported to be proving a real hit with Caravan customers, after becoming an available option six months ago.

KDR 510 is a flight information system designed to bring near real-time textual and graphical weather to the cockpit with a high level of resolution and clarity. The Bendix/King KMH 880 system traffic avoidance feature actively displays and warns of other transponder-equipped aircraft that pose a potential collision threat.

The two systems can be combined to overlay key data such as the pilot’s flight plan and the current and evolving weather picture.
