A second air ambulance providing rapid response to emergency calls across Wales has been launched. The new air ambulance – a Bolkow 105 – will fly five days a week and will initially be based in Caernarfon airport during the summer months.
The current Wales Air Ambulance, which responds from Swansea, has already flown more than 1,000 missions since it was launched in March 2001. The cost of running the two air ambulances will be £1.5m each year.
