The Swiss air rescue organisation REGA has received the first of five EC145 helicopters.

The helicopter manufacturer Eurocopter has described the delivery as being of major strategic importance.

The twin-engined EC145 helicopter complies with JAR OPS 3 and with the latest medical requirements.

Said a spokesman for Eurocopter: “Besides its advanced digital glass cockpit (Avionique Nouvelle by Thales), the helicopter stands out particularly with its self-supporting, fibre-composite cockpit-airframe construction.

“The IFR-compatible helicopter handed over to REGA can accommodate four crew members.

“A swivel chair makes it easier for the accompanying doctor to care optimally for up to two reclining patients.

“What’s more, in addition to this, an avalanche dog can be transported in the helicopter if necessary.”
