Sterling Helicopters will in future
trade under the name of Sterling
Aviation. The company says that the
change has been brought about by its
expansion into other areas of the
aviation industry such as aeroplane
charter, overseas tasking, brokerage
and aircraft management.
Operations manager Christopher
Mace said: “The company has
undergone many changes over the
years. Starting solely as a helicopter
company, we now operate a fifteenstrong
fleet, with five fixed-wing
aeroplanes complementing a mixed
variety of helicopter types.
“With our significantly broader
range of activities, we believe the
name change more effectively
reflects our company business,
especially in the light of future plans
to construct a £300,000 general
aviation centre at Norwich Airport
allowing the handling and
management of business aircraft,
including business jets.”
Sterling, which holds Civil Aviation
Authority (CAA) approvals for
passenger, police and ambulance
flights, training, testing and
engineering, says it is aiming to
develop its pilot training department.
It also has CAA approval to
conduct commercial CPL(H)
modular training courses.
