“Major assemblies and

components for the Safire Jet will

begin arriving at our Opa-Locka,

Florida facility in the spring and we’ll

begin assembly of the first prototype.

We plan to build two flying prototypes,

one static test article and one fatigue

test article. Our flight test/certification

programme will continue into 2006.”

Meanwhile, Safire has selected

Kollsman, Inc. to supply the cabin

pressurisation system for the Safire Jet.

According to its manufacturers, the

Kollsman Autoschedule cabin

Pressurisation Control System (KAPS

II) eliminates the numerous

pneumatic components used in

previous systems, reducing weight

and minimising installation and

maintenance costs. Autoscheduling

algorithms are used to determine

optimal cabin altitude and minimum

descent/ascent rates.

The pilot sets the landing field

altitude prior to takeoff or anytime

during cruise. KAPS II is designed to

automatically control the operation of

the aircraft’s outflow valves to

maintain proper cabin pressure.
