Jet Aviation has revealed its construction plans for a new facility to be located at the Dubai International Airport. With facilities in Riyadh and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the Dubai location will be the third Jet Aviation facility in the region and will primarily offer maintenance services and fixed base operations.

Jet Aviation Dubai, a joint venture with the Almulla Business Group of Dubai, is expected to be fully operational in the second half of 2004 and will include a 4,200 square metre hangar – large enough to accommodate two BBJ2s or Airbus Corporate Jetliners, simultaneously.

“As one of the most important business centres in the Middle East, Dubai is a significant strategic new market for us.

“Our goal is to become the number one service company to the executive aviation industry in the region and establishing a base in Dubai will perfectly complement our global network of facilities,”

said Heinz Köhli, ceo of the Jet Aviation Group.

Jet Aviation Dubai will offer scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, aircraft repair, defect rectifications and aircraft modifications, as well as avionics installations and retrofits for a large variety of business aircraft.

In addition, the facility has 1,000 square metres of workshops and the maintenance division plans to apply for authorised service centre status on Boeing, Gulfstream, Falcon, Cessna, Raytheon and Embraer aircraft.

“Dubai is an important region for Gulfstream and Jet Aviation is the natural choice as an authorised service centre,” said Markus Burns, vp of customer support for Gulfstream aircraft.

The 1,050 square metre FBO building will house a reception area with a refreshment centre, vip customer lounge, conference room, prayer room and private offices. In-house immigration and customs clearance, security checks, baggage screening and metal detector capability will also be available.

Customers and crew will be accommodated with changing rooms, shower and lavatories. For flight crew members, there will be weather and flight planning technology and pilots will have a separate lounge area, crew briefing room, snooze room and a fully equipped kitchen for crew catering.
