Jet Aviation Geneva has signed a contract with Bombardier Aerospace to become an authorised service facility for the Global Express. This approval allows the company to perform line and base maintenance on Global Express airframes and engines and to perform warranty repairs and modifications on the aircraft.
“We are proud that Bombardier Aerospace has chosen our company as an authorised service facility for the Global Express in Europe,” said Markus Huber, general manger of Jet Aviation Geneva. According to Huber, the facility’s maintenance staff will be sent to Bombardier’s training centre in St Laurent, Canada, for training. The facility will also invest in tooling and spare parts.
Meanwhile, Jet Aviation Basel has delivered another BBJ – the eighth BBJ completed by the facility.
The aircraft seats up to 44 passengers and five crew. It houses a first class seating area, a forward and an aft club seating area and forward lounge with two berthable three-person fabric divans.
Jet Aviation says that cabin management and entertainment system equipment was installed, including a six-channel Satcom system with CD, DVD, VCR and Airshow 400 system.
Said Rainer Albecker, general manager Jet Aviation Basel: “We are pleased that we could deliver another BBJ on-time to the customer within a stringent timeline. The aircraft was completed in a ten-month timeframe – meaning preparation and production stage started simultaneously.”
In further news, Jet Aviation Basel has installed the first large display electronic flight instrument system (EFIS) into a classic Boeing 747, using high resolution, wide viewing angle six inch by eight inch active matrix liquid crystal displays.
The EFIS, supplied by Astronautics Corporation of America, will replace the electro-mechanical flight instruments and provide functions of primary flight and navigation to introduce 747-400 functionality to the classic 747.
