Jet Aviation is now offering its Falcon 50 for flights between Lugano, Switzerland and London City Airport.

Martin Bernegger, vice president and general manager aircraft charter said: “The location of both airports is of strategic importance. Lugano is a popular gateway for the north Italian market, while London City is significant to business customers.”

The topographical situation of the two airports requires steep approaches and both are rated as special airports. In addition, London City is characterised by a short runway.

Aircraft landing at these airports must be certified for steep approaches by the aircraft manufacturer and pilots require special training.

Jet Aviation says it provides its Falcon 50 flight crews with the necessary training that includes additional theory, special techniques for steep approaches and simulator training.

For Lugano landings, pilots attend practical flight training at the airport prior to receiving the licence extension.
