Harrods Aviation’s newly expanded FBO development at London Luton airport is open for business. The company says the expansion of the FBO on the existing site has coincided with a 25 per cent increase in business at the base.
“We had to revisit our expansion plans for the Luton facility
following 9/11 and the effects this had on the industry,” said chief executive Steve Grimes.
“But our business has recovered well and the expanded facility is now there to meet the increase in demand
we are experiencing,” he added.
The expansion includes an increased capacity lounge, private vvip lounge, conference facilities, panoramic views over ramp to aircraft, covered drop-off area and additional car parking.
For crew, the added benefits include an airside dedicated crew lounge with internet access, next to operations and ramp staff.
Meanwhile the company has signed an agreement with MacCarthy Interiors, allowing the two companies to provide full aircraft interior refurbishment and support to corporate aircraft. The deal allows Harrods Aviation to offer full interior capability at both their Luton and Stansted facilities, as well as in the field support, Europewide.
MacCarthy Interiors will base experienced personnel with Harrods and will have the support of their design and manufacturing facility at Redhill Aerodrome.
“This achieves the aim of Harrods Aviation to offer the one-stop-shop capability, required by the corporate aircraft sector today,” said technical director Mick Adams.
