Honeywell develops avionics retrofit
Honeywell is developing an APEX/R integrated avionics system retrofit for turboprop and light turbine powered aircraft.

Honeywell is developing an APEX/R integrated avionics system retrofit for turboprop and light turbine powered aircraft.

APEX/R is an avionics system that displays primary flight, weather, traffic and navigational information to the flight crew. It is designed to display the information in life-like graphics to make instrument flying more like clear-weather flying.

“We’ve developed a platform for turboprops and light jets that improves safety and reduces pilot workload and weight,” said Dan Barks, director, marketing, business, regional and general aviation avionics. “The reduced box count and significant decrease in wiring reduce the cost of installation compared to traditional systems.”

The new system will include all major line replaceable units, including primary altitude, heading and air data displays, dual digital navigation, communication systems and dual global positioning systems. The air data portion of the system is RVSM capable.
