Spain’s MAC Aviation has ordered five Citation Mustangs. The Zaragoza-based company expects to take delivery of the first aircraft sometime between 2007 and 2008. Sales manager Sergio Diloy said: “We opted for the Mustang because we don’t usually carry more than two or three passengers and the flights are fairly short-range. So we decided we’d like to put all our efforts into light jets. We told Cessna that we would like our Mustangs to start being delivered after serial number 55.”
The company, owned by the Proyex group (one of the largest privately-owned quality assurance groups in Spain), currently operates a CJ1 and within the next couple of months hopes to add a second. “We generally fly around Spain, Europe and North Africa. As well as corporate clients, we’re also heavily involved in transporting human organs. We have a contract with the national transplant organisation, which has been very important for us to secure our future,” said Diloy.
MAC is involved in cargo flights, aircraft management, FBO handling for several international airports, flight training and is also starting aerial work. Diloy said: “We’re trying to provide a complete aeronautical service, taking in all facets of business aviation. Recently we’ve been looking at aircraft on the market in the hope to secure management contracts with a couple of our clients.”
The company’s relationship with Cessna has continued to develop, to the extent that it is planning to become a distributor of the company’s single engine aircraft and an official maintenance centre.
