FJ33 proves a gem for Safire
Florida-based Safire Aircraft has selected a new version of the Williams International FJ33 turbofan engine as the power plant for the Safire Personal Jet. Each engine is controlled via dual-channel FADECs. The FJ33, which is on schedule to achieve FAA certification in December 2003, will have a three year/1,500 hour warranty. The first Safire Jet flight test aircraft is planned for the first quarter of 2004. FAA certification is planned for December 2005, with customer deliveries scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2006.
