A new GA terminal is expected to increase future business levels at Eindhoven Handling, according to general aviation coordinator Corne Lamers. “The start of reconstruction is planned for September this year and it will be built up over three phases.
“The new facilities will include an improved and relocated operations department along with a new lounge for passengers and crew, so that they have more luxurious waiting rooms for day-long stays.”
The decision to upgrade the terminal was made by the airport authorities. Lamers added: “I believe the expansion plans were preceded by an increase in flight numbers over recent years, in particular with the larger aircraft being handled.
“People are becoming more aware of Eindhoven as an international airport, particularly after the publicity campaign mounted by Ryanair upon their arrival here. The effect is that business aviation passengers have also learned more about the advantages of the airport, particularly in terms of geographical position.
“Eindhoven is situated very centrally in Holland and every major city is within a commutable distance. Also larger companies such as Fuji and Sony have set up in the region, and these attract GA flights from all over the world.”
Eindhoven Handling already offers passenger and crew lounges, a bar and the usual operations facilities such as weather briefing, but expects to increase the quality in facilities offered. Opening hours are currently expected to stay the same, although Lamers suggested that even these may be extended if business levels dictated it.
