TSA Transairco, based at Geneva Airport, has experienced growing traffic over the past year. FBO director Luc Duncan explained: “Fractional ownership is thriving here. We handle GIVs, GVs and BBJs flying
over from the US along with other longer range aircraft arriving from bases in Portugal and Saudi Arabia.”
The success is not only down to fractionals, he added: “On the non-fractional market I also see growth. We have a new GV operator and a Falcon 2000EX operator coming over to us, along with a number of other
new clients. However well fractionals take off over in Europe, people still like to have their own aircraft.”
Geneva has continued to grow as a general aviation focal point, with more attention arising from the Geneva-based EBACE event. “The industry has always thrived in Geneva because of all the money in the region and the international organisations based here, such as the UN and the WHO.
“I’ve been at Geneva Airport for 20 years and we started out with an average of just one aircraft a week, but it’s been growing steadily and slowly. In 2001 we were up to an average of 1.8 aircraft per day, and now at the close of 2002 we’re up to 3.8 aircraft a day and all I can see is growth. Maybe generally in the industry companies aren’t doing so well and maybe in Europe companies aren’t doing so well, but I can definitely tell you that here in Geneva it’s thriving,” said Duncan.
