Gama Aviation has attained dangerous goods approval from the UK’s CAA. This covers all of the aircraft in the fleet ranging from the Hawker 1000 through to the Lear 45 and the Beech 200 Super King Air. The approval allows hazardous materials to be carried on board the aircraft.

Gama has now completed its transition to European JAR status following the move to an AOC earlier this year. Md Marwan Khalek said: “As a JAR operator we wanted to bring everything under our new standards.\r

“The dangerous goods approval was driven by the requirements of our high dependency ambulance work in Scotland where we are required to carry nitric oxide , a particularly nasty chemical which is vital in neonatal incubator care. As a result, we are the only UK operator who has the standards in place to do so.”

In addition to medical work the approval allows the carriage of aircraft spares, such as fuel pumps and escape slides, along with other restricted and industrial items.
