Glasgow continues to grow with improved heliport
Glasgow’s regeneration and development has been bolstered by the redevelopment of Bond Air Services’ licensed city heliport. Bond acquired the site in 1991 and since then has operated long- term helicopter contracts on behalf of the Scottish Air Ambulance and Strathclyde Police.

Glasgow’s regeneration and development has been bolstered by the redevelopment of Bond Air Services’ licensed city heliport. Bond acquired the site in 1991 and since then has operated long-

term helicopter contracts on behalf of the Scottish Air Ambulance and Strathclyde Police.

The £350,000 refurbishment of the site continues a £250,000 development programme actioned in the 1990s. Improvements include upgrades to the hangar and workshops, the addition of further helipads and helicopter parking areas, extended and improved offices and extensive landscaping on the whole area.

Facilities now include maintenance services, equipped for each type of helicopter at the base, including the Eurocopter EC 135. There are also back-up helicopters available for general charter.

Bond’s head of commercial services David Wilson said: “We have had a lot of support from Glasgow City Council who see the development of this site as a major business asset and we believe we have now provided the city with a first-class facility capable of operating to the highest standards.”
