FLN’s regional operation in the Friesian Islands, Germany, has flown in excess of 45,000 passengers this year using its fleet of 10 B-N Islanders. The company says it is very happy with the Islanders and
with the service it receives from Britten-Norman.
At a recent media meeting held in conjunction with the B-N Group at FLN’s regional operation, FLN expressed its satisfaction and said that it will almost certainly be ordering further Islanders in the future.
A spokesman said: “We have no plans or intentions to change aircraft types as the Islander fits the bill perfectly, is economical to operate and is the ideal aircraft to handle the short-sector flights - typical sector times are five minutes!
“The airline especially comes into its own at periods of low tides (this is a very shallow coastline) and in deep winter when the area freezes over, when the only means of access is by air. In addition, we handle the medevac flights to get people off the islands and quickly into mainland treatment centres.”
Questioned by the media, the B-N Group's marketing director, William Hynett, revealed that B-N has received an order for one of the 24 airframes that it recently ordered from Romaero. It is scheduled for delivery before Christmas.
