UK’s Gloucestershire Airport has announced a 70 per cent increase in profits on the break-even budget that was set in October 2001. The airport is apparently keen to grow further, after announcing a 36 per cent increase in aircraft movements (making it the best month for nearly ten years).

“The airport is ambitious and has laid plans for steady but continued growth over the coming years in profits, return to shareholders and business traffic,” said md Gordon Griffiths.

At peak times Gloucestershire airport handles between 45-50 movements per hour, recording 560 movements on the busiest day over the last 13 years - most of which are executive flights. “The continued growth achieved here is a reflection of the recent multi-million pound investment programme, which provides a new terminal, hangarage, fire station and executive lounge for business or leisure users,” said Griffiths.

The airport is situated midway between Gloucester and Cheltenham and adjacent to the M5 motorway. Based aircraft are afforded a premium care service; aircraft are hangared and refuelled by the airport staff.

The airport’s three runways handle a range of traffic, including light aircraft, helicopters and business jets including Citation, Falcon 900 and the Gulfstream IV. Of the 30 companies located at the airport there are five charter companies, eight main-tenance /engineering companies and flight training organisations. Two new hangars are planned and with further space available the airport is encouraging new businesses to locate on site.

“The airport welcomes enquiries from anyone interested in establishing businesses at the

airport such as FBOs, private and corporate aircraft owners, charter companies, corporate event operators, managers and private individuals,” added Griffiths.
