The Legacy, Embraer’s executive jet and the first Brazilian-made aircraft in this category, has received type certification from the European Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA). Embraer is delivering two Legacy aircraft to Europe this year.

The Legacy programme was officially launched during the Farnborough Air Show on July 23, 2000. At the same time, Arizona-based Swift Aviation became the launch customer by placing an order for 25 Legacy aircraft and taking options on 25 more.

The Legacy programme's sales book logs 74 orders and 94 options to date, spread between executive and shuttle versions.

The next step for the Legacy programme is to gain US certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), expected to take place in the coming weeks.

Embraer says it is planning to produce 240 Legacies during the next ten years.
