A survey of Biggin Hill passengers, crew, tenants and staff has shown overwhelming support for an airport hotel.
Ninety seven per cent of those polled want to see a medium-sized hotel built on the airport, with the biggest demand coming from crews of the corporate and general aviation aircraft that use Biggin Hill (84 per cent). Crew demand accounts for 63.3 per cent and passengers 36.4 per cent.
“Crews like to be near their aircraft, but at the moment they are having to find accommodation in hotels as far a way as Brands Hatch and Hever Castle. This is because of a lack of capacity locally,” said airport marketing and customer services manager, Julie Black.
A plan to build a 100-bed hotel with a restaurant on the south side of the airport is currently under consideration by Bromley Borough Council.
The plan was discussed at a recent meeting of the Development Control committee, but a decision was deferred.
