Europe’s Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA) has granted joint technical standard order (JTSO) approval to Goodrich Corporation for its SkyWatch HP Traffic collision avoidance system.

SkyWatch HP is an active surveillance traffic advisory system that operates as an air-to-air or ground-to-air interrogation device. After receiving replies to its interrogations, the SkyWatch HP system computes the responding aircraft’s range, bearing, relative altitude and closure rate, predicting potential traffic conflicts.

The HP version, as with the original SkyWatch system, allows pilots the option of displaying traffic onto a variety of multi-function displays as well as overlaying traffic information on weather radar.
