Graff Aviation has replaced its Lear 35 with a Lear 60, primarily for the additional range and its RVSM certification. “The Lear 35’s lack of RVSM restricted things somewhat. The 60 now offers us added range, a stand-up cabin, separate toilet, luggage area and good, solid and proven technology,” said a spokesman.
The company is the flight department of London-based Graff Jewellers and is used to fly the company’s executives around Europe. "The aircraft is an effective means of transport, because we often have short notice appointments to take care of,” he said.
The management and maintenance of the Lear are handled by ExecuJet, which also offers the aircraft for charter. “Previously we had our aircraft on our own AOC, but now this is all taken care of by ExecuJet. It makes more sense, particularly as they already have Lear 60s,” said the spokesman. However, Graff still has its own crew and captains and does a certain amount of the aircraft’s handling.
The aircraft was bought from Bombardier and has already been put to great use. “We try to use Northolt whenever possible, but it depends upon however many slots they have available. After that we may use Luton, Heathrow or wherever else is convenient. At the moment the aircraft can be based anywhere from Stansted to Manchester,” he added.
