Swiss GV clocks up 5,000 hours in less than four years
A Gulfstream V owned and operated by Zurich-based G5 Executive has reached 5,000 flight hours in less than four years in service.

A Gulfstream V owned and operated by Zurich-based G5 Executive has reached 5,000 flight hours in less than four years in service.

“The Gulfstream V has exceeded our high expectations in daily, worldwide operations,” said G5 Executive’s chairman and ceo Peter Fried. “Gulfstream has delivered on its promises – the business jet is everything it is advertised to be.

“Of particular note is that the 5,000 flight hours were achieved with only 1,189 landings, illustrating the duration of many of our flights,” he added.

Meanwhile, Gulfstream has successfully installed and powered up the Gulfstream Enhanced Vision System. The system was installed on an in-service Air Force C-37A aircraft in mid-May and was said by the manufacturer to have operated flawlessly during avionics testing.

Certified by the US FAA in September 2001, the Gulfstream EVS provides the pilot with an optical image that includes runway markings, taxiways, adjacent roads and surrounding landscape, during conditions of reduced visibility and at night. It will be standard on the GV-SP, scheduled for first customer delivery in fourth quarter, 2003.

In further news, Jet Aviation Management has been appointed as an authorised Gulfstream service centre and warranty repair facility for the G100 and G200. The agreement calls for Jet Aviation to maintain a European Spares Centre in Dusseldorf for these aircraft and it is estimated that the initial provisioning of spares there will be in the order of $1 million.

Jet Aviation’s facility in Hanover has also been appointed as a service centre for the G100 and G200.
