In an article published last month, entitled “‘Shortline’ is made available to 90 per cent of helicopters,” we suggested that this double hook rescue method was new to the market.
It has been brought to our attention by Switzerland’s Air Zermatt that this system of rescue has been around for some time.
A spokesman said: “We developed a double hook for rescue operations some time ago. We use it every year for approximately 1,200 rescue missions day and night.”
