Cessna Aircraft Company has delivered the first Caravans into Spain. Delivered to three separate companies, four Caravans have entered service in Spain primarily for the purpose of flying freight. These aircraft will be based in Spain and the Canary Islands.

“Over the last six months, we have seen a sharp increase in interest from the European marketplace for Caravans,” said Brian Willett, Cessna’s director of Caravan sales.

“This is primarily due to the imminent release of the Notice of Proposed Amendment (NPA) by the JAA. The NPA, once approved, will allow single engine turbine aircraft, like the Caravan, to operate commercially in IMC and night conditions.

“We are encouraged by this movement from the JAA as European operators will now realise the

full benefits of the Caravan in terms of improved safety, reliability and economics.”

Spain and Switzerland have recently joined other Scandinavian countries by allowing such aircraft to be operated commercially during IMC and night conditions.

To support the increased interest in the Caravan, Cessna has also announced a new Caravan Authorised Sales Representative (ASR) for Spain.

Trans Global Aviation Limited will represent Cessna as MB Aviacion S.L in Spain.

President of MB Aviacion S.L., Marc Blomfield, will be based in Madrid and is already in the process of securing a fleet order of new Caravans for his rapidly expanding market.
