The 20th IAOPA World Assembly has been scheduled for 24-29 September, 2000 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Delegates will discuss topics including air traffic services, airport and airspace access, user fees and pilot certification. \rThe Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of the UK will sponsor the Assembly. Experts from the ICAO, the JAA, Eurocontrol, aviation equipment manufacturers, the CAA and AOPA Air Safety Foundation will be addressing delegates at the Mariott Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club near Edinburgh International Airport. \rThe hotel is a former baronial manor house on 1,000 acres of wooded parkland. IAOPA says a number of touring events are planned for delegates and their guests. \rThe IAOPA Assemblies were most recently held in Palm Springs, California in 1998 and Thun, Switzerland in 1996. IAOPA represents the interests of AOPA affiliates in 51 countries, comprising more than 400,000 pilots and aircraft operators. \rThe council was formed in 1962 to provide a voice for general aviation in world aviation forums. "Resolutions developed from these discussions will be used to provide policies and direction for IAOPA and its affiliates," said John Sheehan, IAOPA secretary general.
