Heathrow costs force maintenance closure
Metro Business Aviation is to close its maintenance facility at London Heathrow Airport from January 21, 2000. "Metro has spent considerable sums of money in support of business aviation at Heathrow over the last few years. However, the high costs of maintaining the hangar means that the engineering services offered are no longer a viable part of the business," said a Metro spokesman. The company's Challenger, Learjet and AlliedSignal service centres will be relocated at London Luton Airport, where a new hangar was opened on November 1. There will still be an FBO and Air BP fuelling site at Heathrow.
