Paris Le Bourget-based charter company Occitania has had a convertible air ambulance interior fitted to its Hawker 700. This is the first 700 series aircraft to receive this particular medevac system and to have obtained full certification and CAA approval. The installation was undertaken at Raytheon Aircraft Services Limited (RASL) at Broughton, UK.\rOccitania's fleet flies ad hoc charter for about 500 hours per year, and fulfils air ambulance roles for 400 hours per year, prompting the selection of the optional medevac interior. Said M. Regourd of Occitania: "After we acquired the Hawker we felt that the best place to undertake this specialised work was Broughton where the aircraft had originally been built. We knew of Broughton's reputation for high class workmanship and this has certainly been much in evidence in this conversion programme."\rThe conversion included the installation of an Aerosled life support system, stretchers for two casualties with a built in oxygen supply system. A modified galley area was also installed to facilitate the loading of the life port and stretcher, and electrical looms and harnesses have been installed. In passenger mode, the Hawker can accommodate eight passengers. The conversion takes two hours. \rOccitania also operates two Falcon 50s with a dual medevac-corporate configuration and flies for a medical assistance company contracted by American Express, as well as operating Europe-wide ad hoc charter.\r"Over the years, a number of Hawkers have been configured as both dedicated and convertible air ambulance aircraft," said a spokesperson for RASL. "With its roomy cabin and rugged structure the Hawker is ideally suited to special mission roles such as this."
