FlightSafety International has received approval from the JAA as a Type Rating Training Organisation. Additionally, the company's European sales team, with Rudi Toering at the helm, has been restructured.\rThe TRTO approval means that European pilots are now able to receive official flight training at FlightSafety's extensive US-wide facilities, following the new Flight Crew Licensing (JAR-FCL) regulations that took effect in July last year.\rA number of Europe's national aviation authorities and the JAA authorities have been working with FlightSafety International for the past 18 months. Spot checks at flight safety facilities will continue following the TRTO award.\rA TRTO conducts training specific to a type of aircraft. The inspection prior to the granting of this status not only evaluates the flight simulator itself, but also areas like documentation, course materials and instructional standards.\rFlightSafety's consistency of training has allowed harmonisation of existing programmes to meet the standards set out by the JAA, which has 30 member states.\rRudi Toering has been promoted to managing director - European sales. Toering will be based at Paris-Le Bourget Airport, where one of the company's few European training facilities is based close to Dassault. \rJune Spencer has been relocated from Houston to be UK sales manager. Her new capacity will include the presentation of FSI training services for pilots and maintenance technicians.
